Commissioner Special Meeting and Attorney-Client Session at 5pm

Notice of a Special Meeting and Attorney-Client Session held pursuant to Florida Statutes 286.011 (8) is hereby given by the West Manatee Fire and Rescue District ("District"). A Special Meeting and Attorney-Client Session of the District is hereby scheduled to commence at 5 :00 PM on May 14, 2024 at the District's Administration Building located at 701 63rd St. W., Bradenton, Florida, for the purposes of hearing the District's legal counsels' request for Fire Commission advice and direction relating to settlement negotiations and/or strategy sessions associated with litigation expenditures in the case currently pending in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in Manatee County, Florida in the following matter: C & D Properties of AMI, LLC. v West Manatee Fire and Rescue District, Case No. 2024 CA 334.

The public may attend the public portion of the meeting in person at the Administration Building or listen via phone or virtually using Zoom. This Special Meeting shall begin with an open session at which the chair of the meeting will announce the estimated length of the closed Attorney-Client Session and the names of those attending, and then the session will be closed to the public pursuant to Florida Statutes 286.011 (8). The subject of the Attorney-Client Session shall be confined to the topics allowed by Florida Statutes 286.011 (8). It is anticipated that the Attorney-Client Session will last approximately 1-2 hours. The individuals who will attend the Attorney-Client Session are as follows: Fire Commissioners Lawrence Jennis, Derrick Warner, Billy Burke, David Bishop, Jr., and Robert Bennett; the District's Fire Chief Ben Rigney; the District's legal counsel and litigation counsel: Maggie D. Mooney, Alan Zimmel, Elizabeth Neiberger, and/or Christopher Roe; and a  certified court reporter.

A transcript of the Attorney-Client Session shall be made part of the public record upon conclusion of the pending litigation. At the conclusion of the Attorney- Client Session, the Special Meeting will be reopened to the public, the Attorney-Client Session's termination shall be announced, and the Board of Fire Commission may elect to take Board action relating to the pending litigation.
